What to Expect
Your treatment begins with a focused evaluation, which includes health history and overall health assessment. A physical examination is then conducted to assess your range of motion, sensation awareness, pain levels, strength, and ability to perform specific functional tasks. This information is used to set goals for your therapy and for the physical therapist to create a customized treatment plan in order to achieve recovery as quickly and safely as possible. This first visit usually lasts about an hour.
The treatment plan that is created will begin by stabilizing your condition and relieving your symptoms. Once these goals are met, your therapist will progress you through strengthening maximizing range of motion and mobility. Lastly, you will learn ways to prevent future injury and continue your treatment plan at home.
